AAP leader Durgesh Pathak has informed the Delhi High Court that he will no longer participate in the ongoing proceedings related to the Delhi excise policy case. He has also decided not to appoint any lawyer to represent him in the matter.
This development comes days after Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia took a similar stand in the same case.
Durgesh Pathak Refuses Legal Representation in Excise Case
The matter is being heard by the Delhi High Court in the CBI’s revision plea challenging the discharge of several accused in the alleged liquor policy case, including Kejriwal, Sisodia, and Pathak.
According to reports, Pathak has conveyed to the court that he will neither appear personally nor through legal counsel.
“I too have resolved not to participate further in the present proceedings, either personally or through legal representation. The vakalatnama, if any, executed in my favour in this matter may be treated as having been duly discharged.”
This statement keeps his legal position aligned with the earlier boycott announced by other senior AAP leaders.
Why Are AAP Leaders Boycotting the Hearing?
The boycott follows the Delhi High Court’s decision to reject the plea seeking the presiding judge’s recusal from hearing the matter.
After the court declined that request, Kejriwal and Sisodia had earlier chosen not to continue their participation in the proceedings. Durgesh Pathak has now adopted the same position.
Kejriwal had earlier stated:
“I have lost hope of getting justice from Justice Swarana Kanta. Therefore, I have decided to follow the path of Satyagraha as shown by Mahatma Gandhi.”
This development marks a fresh update in the ongoing Delhi liquor policy case. With Durgesh Pathak now joining Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia in boycotting the proceedings, the matter has taken a new legal turn. Earlier, Manish Sisodia had also boycotted the liquor policy hearing, which we reported previously.
