Court Stresses Constitutional Awareness in Education

The Madras High Court has asked the Tamil Nadu Government to include the life of B. R. Ambedkar in school curriculum. The direction came during a plea on student awareness.
The Court said students must learn about Ambedkar’s role in drafting the Constitution. It noted that his ideas on equality and justice remain relevant.
The Bench observed that education should also build constitutional values. It emphasised that true tribute lies in awareness.
The Court suggested that Ambedkar life in school curriculum should be part of structured learning. It said this would help develop responsible citizens.
The matter was disposed of with directions to the State. The Court reiterated the need for Ambedkar life in school curriculum.
